Helping adults heal from trauma, rebuild self-worth, and form secure relationships

Alexa Methratta, PsyD, LP Trauma Psychologist

Meet Alexa (she/her)

Hi! I’m Alexa, and I’m so glad you’re here!

I specialize in working with individuals who have experienced interpersonal and gender-based violence, including intimate partner violence, sexual assault, childhood abuse, stalking, and relational trauma. Reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, especially when trust has been impacted. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, believed, and empowered to move at your own pace.

I view therapy as a collaborative process because you are the expert on your life. My role is to walk alongside you, offering tools, reflection, and guidance as we make sense of your story together. Healing doesn’t follow a straight line, and there is no “right” way to do it. We’ll work together to find an approach that feels supportive and meaningful to you.

My work is trauma-informed and grounded in social justice, intersectional feminism, and cultural responsivity. I believe our mental health is shaped not only by personal experiences but also by the systems, relationships, and environments we move through every day. I practice through an anti-oppressive and anti-racist lens and remain committed to ongoing learning, reflection, and accountability in my work.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working in high schools, nonprofit organizations (including domestic violence shelters), college counseling centers, jails, hospitals, and community mental health settings. I’ve supported clients across various ages, genders, sexual orientations, races, religions, socioeconomic backgrounds, and immigration experiences. I deeply value honoring the full complexity of each person’s identity.

I earned both my master’s and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University, with training grounded in social justice and trauma-informed care.

What it’s Like to Work With Me

I describe myself as a contextual therapist who prioritizes intersectionality, systems, identities, environment, and experiences. However, I describe my therapeutic style as warm, full of jokes, and very laid back.

My foundation is rooted in feminist and relational perspectives, integrating ACT, DBT skills, CBT, EET (Emotional Efficacy Therapy), mindfulness, and motivational interviewing, depending on your goals.

I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all therapeutic intervention. Every person is different, and we will work collaboratively to find an approach that works for you!
